a review of Hausa Rap acts base on their performance in first half of 2016

Classiq
come into 2016 with a lot of flames running around him, since King-Kong (Remix)
which bought his name more recognition. Classiq so far released more banging
tracks in the North than any other act, From Anfara, to Ban son Reni, to Zauna
and recently a classy video of anfara.

Dj Abba

Dj Abba has
since been a name Hausa Rap lovers knew, but his fame keeps getting brighter,
after he released his track Gan-Gan which was a Hit and got alot of buzz online
and was also featured on a track alongside classiq, then Kheengz. And just
recently released totally which was also a hit. It just seems any single he releases
gets to be a hit in the north.

BOC has now
becomes a name almost everyone in the north is aware of, after releasing his
mixtape #NoEnglish BOC became the most talked about Hausa Rapper in the north.
He featured morel & Dj abba among the few. He got the lyrical skill and
Power, he murders any track he gets on. Just recently released a track
‘Knock-Knock’ but instantly became a hit, I bet u if he continues the good
work, the sky would only be the beginning.

Kheengz is
no new name to the game, but was not finding the best of his moments yet, but
after releasing VOA mixtape, his tempo began to crawl back, releasing videos
back to back. He recently did a Panda/Who u Epp cover track wich followed with
an outstanding video that went on the get featured on HiP tv.

Arewa, Mighty Morell. Arguably one of the most talented Hausa Rapper, who
conquered what most will fell is difficult for a Hausa rap act. Morell is that
one person you can always call when u talk about Rap in the North, but is also
struggling to keep the phase in the ever growing database of Hausa Rap
community. But still deserve the spot as
he still brings hot tunes till date, releasing atleast 4 singles this year.

Deezell

Deezell is
one of the newest thing happening to the north right now, since releasing his
single which featured Classiq and DJ abba on it that automatically became a Hit
deezell’s name has been ringing the bell in the North, he’s currently working
on his Album which will feature A-List acts from the Nigerian Music Industry,
but he also released a Mixtape which actually did below expectation. But we
hopping the album will be more appealing to the Hausa Hip-Hop lovers

Maye as he is been called has grown immensely in the Hausa Hip-Hop Community
after releasing his INA MAZAN SUKE video last year which became one of the most
played Hausa Rap video on YouTube, IBN did not rest since then but keeps on
releasing mad tunes back to back likes of ‘Hausa Rapper’ ‘911’ wich featured BOC,
‘Who U Epp (Olamide’s Cover)’
&’Flows (Prod by. Chopstix) which all got a huge buzz online, and is
set to release his most anticipated E.P ‘Lyrical Maye’ soonest.

Hench is
that amazing artist that took the heart of Hausa Hip-Hop lovers after releasing
what i would describe as the Best Hausa Hip-Hop Video of the year so far ‘BA
WASA’. A video that went on to be feature on almost all Music TV stations
across the Nation and Africa at large. We hope to keep seeing more from this
guy. Hench is currently working on his Album ‘Escape from J-Town’.

Smith is still buzzing since after the release of his first single ‘Waye shi’
Dr smith went on to be signed to a record label, then still came back with
another banging hit titled ‘Bulla’ which became an anthem in some part of the
north, he just released another dope track titled ‘worry them’.

Xdough

Xdough is
no new name in the Hausa Rap community but has been struggling to also keep the
phase in the game until now, after murdering some cover tracks, i guess he has
found his lost tempo, and is ready to conquer the north with his sick flows, we
just wait to see on that.
